SuSE Linux ES 11 not booting due to PCI errors |
With the 371-4522-01 Express Module card and SLES11 installed, the blades won't boot. When this happens console will show following error:
Jul 19 13:17:42 betmspz1db-c01 kernel: +------ PCI-Express Device Error ------+ Jul 19 13:17:42 betmspz1db-c01 kernel: Error Severity : Corrected Jul 19 13:17:42 betmspz1db-c01 kernel: PCIE Bus Error type : Physical Layer Jul 19 13:17:42 betmspz1db-c01 kernel: Receiver Error : First Jul 19 13:17:42 betmspz1db-c01 kernel: Receiver ID : 0028 Jul 19 13:17:42 betmspz1db-c01 kernel: VendorID=8086h, DeviceID=340ch, Bus=00h, Device=05h, Function=00h

These are PCIE corrected errors from the physical layer.
Workaround: Set "pci=noaer" kernel parameter in SuSE Linux ES 11.(Edit grub menu and add pci=noaer to kernel line).

Blade do not Power On after chassis AC powercycle. |
During the whole chassis AC powercycle, if blade SP boots faster than CMM, CMM doesn't allocate power to all blades. In that case, blade auto-power-on fails since it doesn't retry.

Issue fixed in ILOM version W1.3. Resolution: Update ILOM/BIOS firmware to latest version.

CMM shows X6270M2 blade as X6270 |
In some cases CMM reads the fru_name instead of the Product_name field which is misrepresenting the blades identity.
/CH/BL0 Properties: type = Blade ipmi_name = BL0 product_name = SUN BLADE X6270 M2 SERVER MODULE product_part_number = 30025098+1+1 product_serial_number = 1118FMN058 system_identifier = sb6b-ilom0 fru_name = ASSY,BLADE,X6270 ------------incorrect

Issue fixed in CMM firmware SW3.3.5 release.
