This document outlines the top non-hardware issues our customers encounter on the Sun Fire X4240 Server, with the firmware version which fixes that issue or the workaround

ILOM becomes unresponsive after period of operation. |

Update HBA firmwares from the the latest OHIA.
|
Solaris network issue |
Nvidia GE resets under heavy load.*When heavy I/O is exercised on the nvidia MCP55 based port, a timeout resulting in reset will occur. |
Install Solaris patch 138286-02.

Disk LED issue |
System has one or two drives whose disk LEDs do not light. |
Update HBA firmwares from the the latest OHIA. |
After upgrading ILOM/BIOS firmware system does not start |
Occasionally after firmware upgrade system does not start nor show video display. |
Recommendation: Reset ILOM prior to upgrade. If system still fails to start, connect to ILOM and issue command start -force /SYS Issue mostly seen going from ILOM 2.x to 3.x |
Installing RHEL 4.7 fails |
Error: no cdrom driver |
The RHEL 4.7 operating system does not recognize USB 2.0 devices. This causes the OS installations that use a USB DVD-ROM or ILOM rKVMS device to fail. More details and a fix for this issue can be found at: http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2008-0650.html
Resolution: Use latest OHIA CD to begin installation
