Purpose

This document outlines the top non-hardware issues our customers encounter on the Sun Fire X4100 M2/X400 M2 Server, with the firmware version which fixes that issue or the workaround

SymptomDetailsResolution/Workaround
MAC address issue in Windows

  System running MS Windows and both of the onboard Intel MAC addresses get set to FF-FF-FF-FF-FF-FF

Resolved with new Microsoft Windows driver for network adapter located on the Tools & Drivers CD in SW 2.3.1

Keyboard issue in ILOM remote console 

Unable to use special characters on javaRConsole with non-US keyboards.

Resolution: Update ILOM/BIOS firmware to latest version

PXE Boot fails from Nvidia NIC's

Solaris PXE boot fails with:

No driver (or driver binding) was found for the interface used to boot

This occurs because the NVIDIA NIC is not present in netdev_path.
*This is not a bios bug, PXE dhcp server config issue.*

Noisy Fans 

Intermittent high noise from fans

Resolution: Update ILOM/BIOS firmware to latest version

High system load being seen on SLES 10

The issue is happening when "hald" tries polling the virtual USB floppy device provided by the ILOM

Resolution: Prevent the hald from polling the virtual USB floppy. <Document: 1353455.1>
