Overview
The following provides information on the Oracle Big Data Appliance X4-2 hardware offerings. This provides more flexibility in the Big Data offerings allowing a company to purchase a Full Rack, Starter Rack, an In-Rack Expansion, or a Starter Rack and In-Rack Expansion. A Starter Rack contains 6 nodes, while an In-Rack expansion allows the user to grow their Big Data Appliance by another 6 nodes. This offers flexibility to start with a smaller cluster and then grow the cluster as needed. In many cases a Full Rack configuration or multiple Full Rack configurations will be needed. The details provided below describe what is included in each hardware offering.
Full Rack (42U) Configuration
Contains:
- 288 processing cores
- 1152 GB total memory
- 864 TB of raw storage capacity total in Compute and Storage Nodes
- 40Gb/sec InfiniBand Network
- 10Gb/sec Data Center Connectivity
- 18 Compute and Storage nodes which include the following Per Node:

- 2 x Eight-Core Intel ® Xeon ® E5-2650 V2 Processors (2.6 GHz)
- 64 GB Memory (expandable to 512 GB)
- Disk Controller HBA with 512MB Battery backed write cache
