 To clarify how the on board LSI controller firmware should be upgraded

Details

The T3-1, T3-2, T4--1, T4-2 systems use onboard SAS controllers and T3-4 and T4-4 use REM (RAID Expansion Module) LSI disk controllers.

Oracle does not recommend customers go  to lsi.com for fw updates for our onboard SAS controllers

Oracle does not qualify every version of fw that LSI releases

In the event Firmware updates for the onboard SAS controllers are released they will be in the form of a specific LSI firmware patch and must be acquired from Oracle’s Sun System Firmware Release Hub

Query the support portal for an LSI patch for the related platform.

Another option is to check the "patch readme's and downloads" section for the related platform in the System Handbook

Firmware applied to the onboard SAS controllers from any other location or any vendor other than Oracle is not supported

NOTE: System Firmware patches do not contain the SAS controller firmware

For systems that use REM LSI SAS controllers such as T3-4 and T4-4 go the LSI website to obtain the firmware http://www.lsi.com/sep/pages/oracle/sg_x_sas6-rem-z.aspx
