Description

A Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) cable has one or more faulty physical links.

Automated Response

The service indicator LED on the node host bus adapter(hba) and in the storage enclosure IO Module (IOM) may be illuminated. The interface is faulted but still in service.

 

Impact

System performance may be degraded.

 

Suggested Action for System Administrator

Prior to submitting or updating a service request the storage/system administrator should perform the following check:

  •  Utilize the ZFS Maintenance BUI to identify the faulty SAS interface. Refer to example below:

SAS Cable Active Problem

 

  • Verify the SAS cables are properly seated in their receptacles.
  • Verify, via the Maintenance BUI, the active fault has cleared
  • If the fault has cleared returned the ZFS appliance to normal operation
  • If the fault persists refer to the following document for the latest procedures for displaying event content in preparation for submitting a service request and applying any post-repair actions that may be required
