A CD-ROM containing COD keys and configuration information should be created and physically attached to each newly installed or newly reconfigured M10 system. The information on the CD-ROM can then be used to re-configure the XSCF should the data stored on the XSCFU be lost. This is particularly important in the case of the M10 systems as the will not run without proper COD license keys.

Applies to:

Fujitsu M10-4S - Version All Versions and later
Fujitsu M10-4 - Version All Versions and later
Fujitsu M10-1 - Version All Versions and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

Information necessary to re-configure a system should be readily available to service personnel in the event that XSCF data is lost.

Scope

Details

An envelope or sleeve containing a CD-ROM should be taped to the top of each M10-1 or M10-4 chassis, or to the top of the topmost M10-4S building block or XB81 in an M10-4S system.

Information recorded should include:

Text versions of COD activation keys
A dump of the COD keys
A dump of the XSCF configuration
An XSCF snapshot

Passwords should not be stored

The data may be gathered on a USB memory stick and then burned to a CD.

Note that there are 2 USB slots on the rear of an M10-1, M10-4, or M10-4S building block. Be sure to use the USB slot associated with the current master XSCF.

To collect the data:

On the current master XSCF, log in to a user with platadm privileges.

Insert a USB memory stick into the USB slot on the current master XSCF.

XSCF> dumpcodactivation -v -V file:///media/usb_msd/cpukey.cfg
XSCF> dumpconfig -v -V file:///media/usb_msd/system.cfg
XSCF> snapshot -d usb0 -a

Prepare a CD with the snapshot.zip, cpukey.cfg, system.cfg, and the text version of the COD keys that were sent to the customer.

Place the CD in a sleeve and tape it to the top of the M10-1 or M10-4 chassis, or on the topmost building block or XB81 crossbar of an M10-4S system.
