DetailsTo reset the rack Original PDU Metering Unit, follow the two step process that is documented in the Sun Rack II Power Distribution Unit User's Guide. It is copied here for reference. Note - Resetting the metering unit does not power cycle equipment attached to the PDU.
1. Press and hold the reset button until you see a five-second countdown displayed on the LCD screen. You must press the reset button for 20 seconds before the five-second countdown begins. 2. During the five-second countdown, release the reset button and then tap the button again to force the metering unit to reset. Using the method above, any customization changes you have made will be retained. For example, the admin password and the network setting will not be reset. Another, undocumented, method exists to reset the metering unit. That is known as the 'factory defaults' reset option. Resetting to factory defaults will set the IP address to static 192.168.0.1, all interfaces will be enabled and the admin password reset back to the known default. The factory default reset is primarily used by the field engineers as a failsafe a) if the admin password is lost and/or not known The process for a "factory defaults" reset is: 1. Press and hold the reset button until you see a five-second countdown displayed on the LCD screen. You must press the reset button for 20 seconds before the five-second countdown begins. 2. During the five-second countdown, press and hold it down again for another 20 seconds.
Note: The 'factory defaults' reset only exists if the firmware on the PDU metering unit is 1.0.4 or greater. Earlier versions of the firmware do not have the 'factory default' reset option.
