Scope

Details

The Sun Blade 6000 Ethernet Switched Network Express Module (NEM) 24p 10GE (Opus C10 NEM) is a multipurpose connectivity module for the Sun Blade 6000 modular system. The Switched NEM supports connections to external devices through 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GE) SFP+ ports and QSFP ports as well as connections to internal server modules (blades) in a Sun Blade 6000 modular system chassis with disk modules in the same chassis.

The Sun Network 10GE Switch 72p (Opus 2 ToR) is a "Top of the Rack" switch with 16 QSFP (64x 10GE) and 8 SFP+ (1/10 GE) ports.

The Oracle Switch ES1-24 (TOR) is a "Top of the Rack" switch with 20 copper (1/10 GE) ports. and 4 SFP+ (1/10 GE) ports and is mostly be deployed as an Access Layer switch.

The Oracle Switch ES2-64 is a "Top of the Rack" switch with 40 Copper (1/10 GE) and 6 QSFP (24x10GE) ports.  The QSFP ports can be configures to support 40Gb Ethernet.

The Oracle Switch ES2-72 Is a "Top of the Rack" switch with 18 QSFP (72x10GE) ports

Information Gathering

    • Initial information needed for Service Request:
        • Detailed problem description including error or warning messages.
        • ILOM snapshot (please always get a "Full" ILOM snapshot to include event logs. There is no risk of a system reset on Opus despite the warning.
        • ES1-24 - There is a script to collect all show outputs above. es1-24-bur09-b-sp SEFOS# run script getswitchinfo.sc <---Collect putty log. Do not redirect to flash.
        • ES2 switches have a new command SEFOS#show tech-support. Collect this on all ES2 switches<---Collect putty log. Do not redirect to flash.
        • 72P Tor FW  1.2.2.9  and above includes script getswitchinfo.sc SEFOS# run script getswitchinfo.sc <---Collect putty log. Do not redirect to flash.
        • 72P Tor FW 1.2.2.15 and above includes show-techsupport  SEFOS#show tech-support <---------------Collect putty log. Do not redirect to flash. Also collect getswitchinfo.sc
        • NEM version 1.2.2.9 does not include gerswitchinfo.sc so manual data collection is required as described below.
        • For manuel data collections, run and collect the following show outputs (same output as the getswitchinfo.sc script)
        • show running-config
          show nvram
          show system information
          show interface status
          show ip interface
          show mac-address-table
          show vlan
          show spanning-tree detail
          show ip route summary
          show vlan
          show interfaces flowcontrol
          show ether detail
          show ip rip stat
          show int stat
          show vrrp det

clear int count   (set all counters to 0)
            wait 20 seconds
show int count<<<<look for excessive packet counter wrapping.. Indicates a loop

    • If the configuration includes a Sun Blade 6000 Ethernet Switched NEM 24p 10GE
        • *Explorer* output of affected blade(s)
        • *Explorer* output of a Working blade (if exists)
        • Which slot is used for the blade(s)?
        • CMM ILOM snapshot
        • SOS report output for Linux systems
