Information in this document applies to any platform.
Purpose
The goal of this document is to list the minimum supported firmware, software, solaris, patches and requirements for minimal solaris installation for the M5-32 servers.
Details
1. System Firmware and Solaris
The following table lists minimum supported hardware, firmware and operating system (OS) combinations, as well as required software patches.
Reminder:
- Oracle Solaris 10 09/10 is also known as S10U9
- Oracle Solaris 10 08/11 is also known as S10U10
- Oracle Solaris 10 01/13 is also known as S10U11

Notes :
- A Solaris 10 single guest domain are limited to 1024 virtual CPUs and 4 TBytes of memory,
- Until the Oracle Solaris 10 1/13 SPARC Bundle has been installed, the Solaris instance only supports 512 CPUs and 3840 GBytes (S10U10) or 1023 GBytes (S10U9) of memory .
- Mandatory patches list :148322-07, 148324-06, 148888-01, 149638-01, 149644-01, 150025-01, 150027-01, 150107-01, 150110-01
- To avoid bug 15665037, install SUNWust1 and SUNWust2
Additional information :
- Do not configure the Oracle Solaris 10 OS in the control domain.
- You can configure Oracle Solaris 10 OS with required patches and packages in the guest, I/O, root, and service domains.

Note:
- OVM 3.1 (S11.1 SRU 10.5 and later) introduces a new feature Recovery Mode. It's recommended to consider to enable this feature. See Oracle VM Server for SPARC 3.1 Administration Guide.Recovery mode also requires SysFW 9.1.0.i or later.
3. Requirements for Minimal Solaris Installation
- No individual package updates are required at this time to use Oracle Solaris 11.1 OS with this server,
- S11.1 SRU4
- solaris-desktop packages group is required to use rKVMS on the control domain
- No individual package are required at this time to use Oracle Solaris 10 OS on a guest domain,
- mandatory patches list + SPARC bundle
