Description

Machine Administration software (MADM) running on the domain has detected a serious IO problem.

Exactly how serious the IO problem is can be found by running the showlogs CLI on the XSCF and looking at the madm-related log.

If the IO problem is related to a specific PCI card, the PCI card is identified. If the IO problem is not related to a PCI card, then the problem is due to a built-in GbE controller, a built-in USB controller, or built-in hard disk drives - however, the precise device that caused the problem is not identified on the XSCF.

Automated Response

No immediate action is taken. The platform administrator should use the output of the showlogs command to determine if a service action is necessary.

Impact

Nothing is deconfigured.

Indicted Hardware

If the IO problem is related to a PCI card, then the PCI card is the only suspect.

If the IO problem is related to a built-in IO device, the entire chassis is put on the suspect list. Any suspects are not marked for replacement, since any marking of resources as faulty is performed on the domain.

Suggested Action for System Administrator

The recommended service action for this event is to schedule replacement of the affected component(s) at the earliest possible convenience. Although the hardware may be functioning, it is not intended nor recommended that the faulted component(s) remain in the system for a prolonged period of time.

Refer to the following document for the latest procedures for displaying event content in preparation for submitting a service request and applying any post-repair actions that may be required.
