Description

Fault due to XSCF software-detected problems on the command interface between the XSCF and a MBC chip.
Automated Response
- For M10-1 or M10-4 systems, no immediate action is taken.
For M10-4S systems, for faults that can be isolated to a specific MBC chip, the XSCF switches the command interface to another building block in the PPAR with a functioning command interface. If there is no alternate building block to use, then no immediate action is taken for this case. For faults that cannot be isolated to a specific MBC chip, the XSCF is rebooted. On a M10-4S system, the standby XSCF will take over as the active XSCF.
Impact
- For M10-1 or M10-4 systems, if the fault is isolated to a specific MBC chip, the platform becomes unbootable.
For M10-4S systems, if the fault is isolated to a specific MBC chip, the building block becomes unbootable. If the fault cannot be isolated to a specific MBC chip, nothing is deconfigured.
Indicted Hardware
- For faults that can be isolated to a specific MBC chip:
For M10-1 systems, the MBU is marked for replacement. For M10-4 and M10-4S systems, the CMUL is marked for replacement. For faults that cannot be isolated to a specific MBC chip, the problem may be in the XSCF software or it may be some undiagnosable hardware problem.
Suggested Action for System Administrator
- The recommended service action for this event is to schedule replacement of the affected component(s) at the earliest possible convenience. Although the hardware may be functioning, it is not intended nor recommended that the faulted component(s) remain in the system for a prolonged period of time.
