Purpose

Provide additional information for message ID: M10-env.temp.over-fatal

Fujitsu fault code:

01040401

Details

Type

Hardware Fault
   env.temp.over-fatal

Severity

Major

Description

Fault due to a severe overtemperature condition detected at a temperature sensor located at a LLC.

The warning indicates a higher temperature than the overtemperature warning event as described in:

M10-env.temp.over-fail - Overtemperature fault (Doc ID 1535254.1)

This fault event happens only in case XSCF firmware failed to turn off the power of this building block due to an event as described in Doc ID 1535254.1.

Hardware, not firmware, detects this abnormality, and cuts off the PSU itself. In this special state, a green LED mounted on a PSU will blink.

There is risk of damage to hardware with this overtemperature condition.

Automated Response

The box is powered down.

Impact

Nothing is deconfigured. If the platform is powered up while the temperature is still in the dangerous overtemperature range, another overtemperature fault will occur.

The platform may have an additional fault which prevents XSCF firmware from implementing its proper reaction to the overtemperature condition. The platform administrator should check logs to see if any other fault is logged, and take appropriate action based on the log.

Indicted Hardware

The suspect causing overtemperature situation is the external environment.

The platform may have an additional fault which prevents XSCF firmware from implementing its proper reaction to the overtemperature condition. The platform administrator should check logs to see if any other fault is logged, and take appropriate action based on the log.

Suggested Action for System Administrator

Refer to the following document for the latest procedures for displaying event content in preparation for submitting a service request and applying any post-repair actions that may be required.
