SPARC

Purpose

Provide additional information for message ID: M10-memory.bank.err

Fujitsu fault code:

0200140b

Details

Type

Hardware Fault
   memory.bank.err

Severity

Minor

Description

Fault due to DIMM errors detected by Power On Self Test (POST).

The fault can be due to one of the following conditions:

  • The number of non-permanent correctable errors (PCEs) on a single DIMM exceeds a specified threshold
  • The number of permanent correctable errors (PCEs) on a single DIMM exceeds a specified threshold
  • The number of uncorrectable errors (UEs) on a single DIMM exceeds a specified threshold

Automated Response

The physical partition using this DIMM (that is, using the memory bank this DIMM belongs to) is reset to deconfigure the DIMM.

Impact

The memory associated with this memory bank is deconfigured (4 DIMMs for M10-1, 8 DIMMs for M10-4/4S).

Indicted Hardware

The DIMM is marked for replacement. It is also possible that the DIMM is not seated correctly.

For M10-1 systems, there is a slight chance the MBU is at fault, but this FRU does not appear on the suspect list.

For M10-4/4S systems, there is a slight chance the CMUU or CMUL, where the suspicious DIMM is mounted, is at fault, but this FRU does not appear on the suspect list.

Suggested Action for System Administrator

The recommended service action for this event is to schedule replacement of the affected component(s) at the earliest possible convenience. Although the hardware may be functioning, it is not intended nor recommended that the faulted component(s) remain in the system for a prolonged period of time.

Refer to the following document for the latest procedures for displaying event content in preparation for submitting a service request and applying any post-repair actions that may be required.
