Details
Type
- Hardware Fault
- memory.block.pce
Severity
- Minor
Description
-
Fault due to number of DIMM permanent correctable errors (PCEs) exceeds threshold.
Automated Response
- No immediate action is taken. No further PCEs will be reported for this DIMM, and no additional 256MB blocks will be mapped out. It is expected that the domain will take appropriate action.
Impact
-
The DIMM is marked for replacement. The 256MB memory chunk that contains the permanent correctable error is deconfigured after the domain reboots.
Indicted Hardware
- The DIMM is marked for replacement. It is also possible that the DIMM is not seated correctly.
For M10-1 systems, there is a slight chance the MBU is at fault, and this will be listed as the second suspect FRU.
For M10-4/4S systems, there is a slight chance the CMUU or CMUL is at fault, and this will be listed as the second suspect FRU.
Suggested Action for System Administrator
- The recommended service action for this event is to schedule replacement of the affected component(s) at the earliest possible convenience. Although the hardware may be functioning, it is not intended nor recommended that the faulted component(s) remain in the system for a prolonged period of time.
Refer to the following document for the latest procedures for displaying event content in preparation for submitting a service request and applying any post-repair actions that may be required.
