Details
Type
- Hardware Fault
- memory.block.ue
Severity
- Critical
Description
-
Fault due to DIMM uncorrectable error detected by the MAC in a CPU chip.
Automated Response
- No immediate action is taken by XSCF. It is expected that the domain will take appropriate action.
Impact
-
The DIMMs with the UE are marked for replacement. The 256MB memory chunk that contains the uncorrectable error is deconfigured after the physical partition reboots.
Indicted Hardware
- If the memory is running in non-mirrored mode, then two DIMMs are actually involved in the UE. There will be a separate event for each of the DIMMs.
If the memory is running in mirrored mode, then four DIMMs are actually involved in a UE. There will be a separate event for each of the DIMMs.
For M10-1 systems, there is a slight chance the MBU is at fault, and this will be listed as the second suspect FRU.
For M10-4/4S systems, there is a slight chance the CMUU/CMUL is at fault, and this will be listed as the second suspect FRU.
It is also possible that one of the DIMMs involved in the UE is not seated correctly.
Suggested Action for System Administrator
- The recommended service action for this event is to schedule replacement of the affected component(s) at the earliest possible convenience. Although the hardware may be functioning, it is not intended nor recommended that the faulted component(s) remain in the system for a prolonged period of time.
Refer to the following document for the latest procedures for displaying event content in preparation for submitting a service request and applying any post-repair actions that may be required.
