Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

Define how many virtual devices can be configured on the different Oracle Fabric Interconnect I/O Modules.

Details

  • 1-port 10GE I/O module - 128 vNIC devices per module
  • 10-port 1GE I/O module - 160 vNIC devices per module
  • 4-port 10GE I/O module - 256 vNIC devices per module

(vNIC devices do not need to be evenly distributed across available ports)

NOTE: Per module limits need not be evenly distributed across individual ports on multi-port cards. For example: a 10-port card with a limit of 160 vNIC devices per module does not limit vNIC devices to 16 per port.
  • 2-port 4Gb FC I/O module - 128 vHBAs per I/O Module, 64 vHBA devices per port (2 reserved)
  • 2-port 8Gb FC I/O module - 128 vHBAs per I/O Module (2 vHBAs reservered for internal card management).
NOTE: These limits assume proper licensing has been purchased for the VP780 chassis.
