Details

Type

  fault.chassis.Athena-Server.cpu.SPARC64-X.strand.ce

Severity

Minor

Description

The number of correctable errors on a strand on a CPU chip has exceeded an acceptable threshold. This fault occurs when the number of offline attempts has exceeded an acceptable threshold.

Automated Response

The domain software will attempt to offline the strand on the CPU chip. The strand of the CPU chip will be deconfigured after the platform is power cycled or after the domain reboots or after a Dynamic Reconfiguration operation is performed.

Impact

The performance of the system may be impacted as a result of removing the strand from operation.

Suggested Action for System Administrator

The recommended service action for this event is to schedule replacement of the affected component(s) at the earliest possible convenience. Although the hardware may be functioning, it is not intended nor recommended that the faulted component(s) remain in the system for a prolonged period of time.

Refer to the following document for the latest procedures for displaying event content in preparation for submitting a service request and applying any post-repair actions that may be required.
