Purpose

This document indicates how Oracle Personnel can disable the ILOM's Sun Service account.

Details

The following error message is seen during ILOM reboot when the system has sunservice mode enabled:

   Warning: The system appears to be in manufacturing test mode.

This mode allows the user to run restricted service commands if Oracle engineering needs to isolate a specific problem.  This is not Escalation mode which is another method to enter restricted commands.  sunservice mode can be disabled by using the following ILOM commands:

  • -> set /SP reset_to_defaults=all
  • -> reset /SP

CAUTION: These commands will cause loss of all ILOM & LDOM non-default settings, which could be disastrous, if you don't have a backup of these settings. Please use the ILOM commands on newly delivered systems or system that have NO customized ILOM or LDOMs settings yet. If you have custom (non-default) ILOM/LDOM settings, contact the Oracle support center to have a field engineer use sunservice mode.

The sunservice mode can also be disabled by Oracle personnel by running the ILOM command below while at a Linux prompt.  An escalation mode password is not required if the sunservice login account is enabled.  The user should log into the ILOM as user sunservice.  Prior System Firmware 7.2 (ILOM revision 3.0.2.50) use the ILOM root password otherwise use the ILOM service password generator at: https://modepass.us.oracle.com/modepass/ .  Once in sunservice mode, perform command:

  • /usr/local/bin/sunserviceacct disable
