Purpose
When replacing a system board or REM card on T3, T4, T5, T7, T8 systems, certain procedures will need to be followed if on board hardware raid volumes are configured.
Details
When replacing a system board or REM card certain procedures will need to be followed if on board hardware raid volumes are configured. Failure to do so would result in the volumes not being seen after component is replaced. The volumes will need to be reactivated. This needs to be done for each on board controller path or REM.
T3-1 T4-1
Controller 0 /pci@400/pci@1/pci@0/pci@4/scsi@0/
Controller 1 /pci@400/pci@2/pci@0/pci@4/scsi@0/
Two controllers both on board and imbedded in system board. Both paths would need to be selected individually and inactive volumes activated if previously configured
Netra T3-1 & 4-1
Controller 0 /pci@400/pci@2/pci@0/pci@4/scsi@0/
One controller imbedded in system board so only the one controller needs to be selected and inactive volumes activated if previously configured
T3-2 T4-2
/pci@400/pci@2/pci@0/pci@e/scsi@0
One controller imbedded in system board so only the one controller needs to be selected and inactive volumes activated if previously configured
Netra T4-2
Controller 0 /pci@400/pci@2/pci@0/pci@e/scsi@0/
Controller 1 /pci@500/pci@1/pci@0/pci@4/scsi@0/
Two controllers both on board and imbedded in system board. Both paths would need to be selected individually and inactive volumes activated if previously configured
T3-4 T4-4 (4 proc)
Controller 0 /pci@400/pci@1/pci@0/pci@0/LSI,sas@0/
Controller 1 /pci@700/pci@1/pci@0/pci@0/LSI,sas@0/
Each REM is an individual card so only volumes on replaced card’s path will need to be reactivated if previously configured
T3-4 T4-4 (2 proc)
Controller 0 /pci@400/pci@1/pci@0/pci@0/LSI,sas@0/
Controller 1 /pci@500/pci@1/pci@0/pci@0/LSI,sas@0/
Each REM is an individual card so only volumes on replaced card’s path will need to be reactivated if previously configured
T3-1b
Controller 0 /pci@400/pci@1/pci@0/pci@2/LSILogic,sas@0/
T4-1b
Controller 0 /pci@400/pci@1/pci@0/pci@c/LSI,sas@0
T5-2 1S
Controller 0 /pci@300/pci@1/pci@0/pci@2/scsi@0 sas0
Controller 1 /pci@340/pci@1/pci@0/pci@2/scsi@0 sas1
T5-2
Controller 0 /pci@300/pci@1/pci@0/pci@2/scsi@0 sas0
Controller 1 /pci@3c0/pci@1/pci@0/pci@2/scsi@0 sas1
T5-4
Controller 0 /pci@300/pci@1/pci@0/pci@4/pci@0/pci@c/scsi@0 sas0
Controller 1 /pci@4c0/pci@1/pci@0/pci@c/pci@0/pci@c/scsi@0 sas1
T5-8
Controller 0 /pci@300/pci@1/pci@0/pci@4/pci@0/pci@c/scsi@0 sas0
Controller 1 /pci@6c0/pci@1/pci@0/pci@c/pci@0/pci@c/scsi@0 sas1
T5-1B
/pci@300/pci@1/pci@0/pci@4/LSILogic,sas@0
One controller imbedded in system board so only the one controller needs to be selected and inactive volumes activated if previously configured
T7-1
Controller 0 /pci@301/pci@2/scsi@0
T7-2
Controller 0 /pci@301/pci@1/scsi@0
Controller 1 /pci@303/pci@1/scsi@0
T7-4
Controller 0 /pci@300/pci@2/scsi@0
Controller 1 /pci@302/pci@1/scsi@0
T8-1
Controller 0 /pci@301/pci@2/scsi@0
T8-2
Controller 0 /pci@301/pci@1/scsi@0
Controller 1 /pci@303/pci@1/scsi@0
T8-4
Controller 0 /pci@300/pci@2/scsi@0
Controller 1 /pci@302/pci@1/scsi@0
=======================
Disable auto-boot in OBP and enter the OBP environment after you have
powered the server back on.
{0} ok show-disks
a) /pci@400/pci@2/pci@0/pci@f/pci@0/usb@0,2/hub@2/hub@3/storage@2/disk
b) /pci@400/pci@2/pci@0/pci@4/scsi@0/disk
c) /pci@400/pci@1/pci@0/pci@4/scsi@0/disk
d) /iscsi-hba/disk
q) NO SELECTION
Enter Selection, q to quit: q
{0} ok setenv fcode-debug? true
{0} ok select /pci@400/pci@2/pci@0/pci@4/scsi@0 <---path to imbedded controller or REM from list above
{0} ok show-volumes
For every RAID volume that is listed as inactive, enter the following command to activate those volumes:
{0} ok 0 activate-volume <------ as an example activating volume 0
where the inactive volume is the name of the RAID volume that you are activating, for example 0 or 1
Once complete, unselect the controller and restore fcode-debug? to the false setting
{0} ok unselect-dev
{0} ok setenv fcode-debug? false
{0} ok reset-all
