Purpose

This document provides additional Information for SPT-8000-MJ - Power Supply general failure.

Scope

 

Details

Type: Fault

           fault.chassis.power.fail

Severity: Critical

Description

The message ID: SPT-8000-MJ indicates that the fault management function running on the service processor has determined that a Power Supply  is not providing power to the server. The event can occur for a variety of reasons including AC power, AC Power cord unplugged etc....

The service required LED may be illuminated.

The specific power supply experiencing the fault can be identified following the procedures described Section A - Identify Component / FRU in the document referenced under "Suggested Action for System Administrator".

Automated Response

The service required LED on the chassis and on the affected Power Supply may be illuminated.

Impact

Server will be powered down when there are insufficient operational power supplies.

Suggested Action for System Administrator

This event is an alert intended to inform the user about a problem that is not typically associated with a fault in the product. Alerts do not normally require Oracle Services for resolution. The administrator should verify air inlets are not obstructed, AC Power, AC Power cord are not unplugged, or other condition is not causing this event.
