Purpose

Additional information for SPT-8000-J4 - Component Missing.

Details

Type:  Fault

            fault.component.missing

Severity:  Major

Description

When the Service Processor either boots or resets, it will check for the presence of any infrastructure which is required for normal operation.  The message ID: SPT-8000-J4 indicates that the fault management function running on the Service Processor (SP) has determined that a required device is missing from the chassis.

Automated Response

The service required LED on the chassis may be illuminated.  If the system is on it may be power down to prevent further damage.  If the system is in the process of powering up, the SP may prevent it from powering up.

Impact

The services provided by the components will not be available. The Host may not be permitted to power on.

Suggested Action for System Administrator

This event is an alert intended to inform the user about a problem that is not typically associated with a fault in the product. Alerts do not normally require Oracle Services for resolution. The administrator should review the ILOM event log for additional information pertaining to this diagnosis, determine which FRU is missing and take action to have the missing FRU re-installed.

Should the administrator be unable to resolve the issue, use the following link for additional information for steps necessary to contact Oracle Service.
