Purpose

Additional information for SPT-8000-FY - Temperature shutdown.

Details

Type:   Fault

             fault.chassis.temp.shutdown

Severity:  Critical

Description

The message ID: SPT-8000-FY indicates that the fault management function running on the service processor has determined that a component inside the chassis is operating outside of the allowable temperature range.

In the absence of other faults which may point to a faulty part within the system, this over tempertature condition is likely cause by something external ( high room temperature, blockage of air inlets, etc.).

See section  "Suggested Action for System Administrator" for further information..

Automated Response

The system will be powered down. The chassis-wide service required LED will be illuminated. This fault will self clear when the temperature is with specification.

Impact

The system will not be allowed to power on again until the temperature sensor has returned to within allowable temperature limits.

Suggested Action for System Administrator

This event is an alert intended to inform the user about a problem that is not typically associated with a fault in the product. Alerts do not normally require Oracle Services for resolution. The administrator should review the ILOM event log for additional information pertaining to this diagnosis and determine the appropriate action.

Should the administrator be unable to resolve the issue, use the following link for additional information for steps necessary to contact Oracle Service.
