Purpose

Additional information for  SPT-8000-AP - Chassis Intrusion Failure.

Details

Type: upset

           fault.security.enclosure-open

Severity: Major

Description

The message ID: SPT-8000-AP indicates that the fault management function running on the service processor has determined that a chassis intrusion failure has occurred.

A chassis intrusion failure occurs when the top cover is removed, prior to powering down the system
and disconnecting the AC power cords from the power supplies. Other potential causes could be due
to a poor connection of the chassis intrusion cable to the power distribution board (PDB) or a defective
chassis intrusion switch.

The ILOM CLI will display the status of the chassis-wide LED indicator as: /SYS/SERVICE = On

When the top cover is re-installed, the service processor will continue to operate in a degraded mode
and will not re-inventory the host DIMM's automatically, potentially causing the DIMM inventory
reported by the ILOM command line interface or Web browser to be inaccurate.

Automated Response

The chassis-wide service required LED will be illuminated. This fault will self clear when the cover has been placed back on.

Impact

Server is immediately powered off and the service processor will operate in a degraded mode.

Suggested Action for System Administrator

This event is an alert intended to inform the user about a problem that is not typically associated with a fault in the product. Alerts do not normally require Oracle Services for resolution. The administrator should Replace the top cover back on.

Should the administrator be unable to resolve the issue, use the following link for additional information for steps necessary to contact Oracle Service.
