Purpose

Provide additional information for SPT-8000-24 - Fan Column Failure.

Details

Type: Fault

           fault.chassis.device.fan.column-fail

Severity: Major

Description

The message ID SPT-8000-24 indicates that the fault management function running on the service processor has determined that a fan column is either missing or faulted.

A fan missing or un-operational could  result in a reduction in air flow that may in turn result in temperatures within the product reaching unacceptable levels.

The specific fan FRU experiencing the fault can be identified following the procedures described in the document referenced under "Suggested Action for System Administrator".

Automated Response

The service-required LED will be illuminated on the affected fan module and chassis. System will be powered down when the High Temperature threshold is reached.

Impact

System may be powered down if redundant fan modules are not operational.

Suggested Action for System Administrator

The administrator should arrange to have the faulty fan FRU replaced.
