An undervoltage or overvoltage warning from a device or FRU.
Type
- Fault
- fault.chassis.power.warning
Severity
- Minor
Description
- An undervoltage or overvoltage warning was detected by a device or FRU.
Automated Response
- Nothing is deconfigured and no action is taken as a result of this warning.
Impact
- None.
Suggested Action for System Administrator
- Schedule a repair action to replace the affected Field Replaceable Unit (FRU), the identity of which can be determined using fmdump -v -u EVENT_ID. Please consult the detail section of the knowledge article for additional information.
Details
- An undervoltage or overvoltage warning was detected by a device or FRU.
The FRU or device with the undervoltage or overvoltage warning
can be identified from the FMRI of the fault report.
The following section provides a list of the potential FRUs and devices that can
detect an undervoltage or overvoltage warning, and specifies the impact and automated
actions taken by the platform or domain in response to the fault.
SPARC Enterprise M3000 platform:
Fan Backplane (FANBP_B):
Motherboard Unit (MBU):
No immediate action is taken because of this fault.
Nothing is deconfigured.
SPARC Enterprise M4000/M5000 platforms:
Fan Backplane (FANBP_B):
Fan Backplane (FANBP_C):
DDC_A on a Motherboard:
DDC_A on an IOU:
DDC_B on a Motherboard:
DDC_B on a DDC Riser:
DDC Riser (DDCR) on an IO Unit (IOU):
IO Unit (IOU):
Memory Board (MEMB):
CPU Module (CPUM):
CPU/Memory Unit (CMU):
Crossbar Unit (XBU):
No immediate action is taken because of this fault.
Nothing is deconfigured.
SPARC Enterprise M8000/M9000 platforms:
DDC_A on a Backplane (BP_A):
IO Unit (IOU):
CPU Module (CPUM):
CPU/Memory Unit (CMU):
Crossbar Unit (XBU):
Backplane (BP_A):
Switch Backplane (SWBP):
Media Backplane (MEDBP):
DVD Unit (DVDU):
Tape Unit (TAPEU):
No immediate action is taken because of this fault.
Nothing is deconfigured.
Clock Unit (CLKU):
No immediate action is taken because of this fault.
If the Clock Unit is the active Clock Unit,
then the administrator should use the "clockboard" command
to switch to the standby clockboard at the next platform powerup.
The recommended service action for this event is to schedule the replacement of the affected FRU.
Step 1. Collect the Fault Message (two methods)
Single-line fault message displayed on the XSCF console:
Mar 27 15:15:58 nwk-dc2-1-sc0 fmd: SOURCE: sde, REV: 1.12, CSN: nwk-dc2-1
EVENT-ID: e76aee42-721c-4800-a1c1-b09410e56ac4
Refer to http://www.sun.com/msg/SCF-8004-DQ for detailed information.
Complete fault message using 'fmdump -m' on the XSCF console:
MSG-ID: SCF-8004-DQ, TYPE: Fault, VER: 1, SEVERITY: Minor
EVENT-TIME: Tue Mar 27 15:15:58 PDT 2007
PLATFORM: SPARC-Enterprise, CSN: nwk-dc2-1, HOSTNAME: nwk-dc2-1-sc0
SOURCE: sde, REV: 1.12
EVENT-ID: e76aee42-721c-4800-a1c1-b09410e56ac4
DESC: An undervoltage or overvoltage warning was detected by a device or FRU.
Refer to http://www.sun.com/msg/SCF-8004-DQ for more information.
AUTO-RESPONSE: Nothing is deconfigured and no action is taken as a result of this warning.
IMPACT: None.
REC-ACTION: Schedule a repair action to replace the affected Field Replaceable Unit (FRU),
the identity of which can be determined using fmdump -v -u EVENT_ID.
Please consult the detail section of the knowledge article for additional information.
Step 2. Collect the output from the 'fmdump -v -u ' command
SPARC Enterprise platform example:
xscf> fmdump -v -u e76aee42-721c-4800-a1c1-b09410e56ac4
TIME UUID MSG-ID
