Under-temperature condition detected by the inlet temperature sensor.

Type

Fault
  fault.chassis.env.temp.under

Severity

Critical

Description

Under temperature condition detected by the inlet temperature sensor.

Automated Response

Nothing is deconfigured.

Impact

System may crash due to ASIC's operating outside their intended temperature ranges.

Suggested Action for System Administrator

The platform administrator should check for the cause of the under temperature condition. Please consult the detail section of the knowledge article for additional information.

Details

Under-temperature condition detected by the inlet temperature sensor.

Condensation may occur due to this under-temperature condition.

Operating the platform outside its intended temperature range may cause hardware problems.

The recommended service action for this event is outlined in the steps below.

Step 1. Collect the fault message (use one of the following methods):

Single-line fault message displayed on the XSCF console:

   Mar 20 21:38:22 san-ff2-21-0 fmd: SOURCE: sde, REV: 1.12, CSN: 7860000772
   EVENT-ID: 0936e151-0e65-4dcc-aa7e-20eddde81691
Refer to http://www.sun.com/msg/SCF-8006-1X for detailed information.

Complete fault message using 'fmdump -m' on the XSCF console:

MSG-ID: SCF-8006-1X, TYPE: Fault, VER: 1, SEVERITY: Critical
   EVENT-TIME: Tue Mar 20 21:38:22 UTC 2007
   PLATFORM: SPARC-Enterprise, CSN: 7860000772, HOSTNAME: san-ff2-21-0
   SOURCE: sde, REV: 1.12
   EVENT-ID: 0936e151-0e65-4dcc-aa7e-20eddde81691
DESC: Under temperature condition detected by the inlet temperature sensor.
Refer to http://www.sun.com/msg/SCF-8006-1X for more information.
   AUTO-RESPONSE: Nothing is deconfigured.
IMPACT: System may crash due to ASIC's operating outside their intended temperature ranges.
REC-ACTION: The platform administrator should check for the cause of the under temperature condition.
Please consult the detail section of the knowledge article for additional information.

Step 2. Collect the output from the 'fmdump -v -u EVENT_ID' command

   SPARC Enterprise platform example:

   xscf> fmdump -v -u 0936e151-0e65-4dcc-aa7e-20eddde81691

   TIME                 UUID                                 MSG-ID
   Mar 20 21:38:22.7798 0936e151-0e65-4dcc-aa7e-20eddde81691 SCF-8006-1X
     100%  fault.chassis.env.temp.under

           Problem in: hc:///chassis=0
              Affects: -
                  FRU: hc://:product-id=SPARC-Enterprise:chassis-id=7860000772:
                       server-id=san-ff2-21-0/component=CHASSIS

Step 3. Platform administrator should investigate the cause of the under-temperature condition.

If unable to identify the cause of the under-temperature condition, collect a snapshot from the xscf and then contact your Authorized Service Provider.

If you require additional information, please refer to Document 1002526.1.
