Description

A fatal error was detected within the part of a MAC chip that controls a memory bank.

Automated Response

The bank of memory is deconfigured.

Impact

Domain using the memory bank will be reset.

Suggested Action for System Administrator

Schedule a repair action to replace the affected Field Replaceable Unit (FRU), the identity of which can be determined using fmdump -v -u EVENT_ID. Please consult the detail section of the knowledge article for additional information.

Details

A fatal error was detected within the part of a MAC chip that controls a memory bank.


   SPARC Enterprise M3000 platform:
     
      There is no MAC chip on a M3000 platform. 
      The JSC chip provides the same functionality as the MAC chip and is located on the MBU.
      Domain using the memory bank will be reset.
      The memory associated with this bank of memory is deconfigured.


   SPARC Enterprise M4000/M5000 platforms:
     
      The MAC Chip is located on the Memory board.
      Domain using the memory bank will be reset.
      The memory associated with this bank of memory is deconfigured.
   

   SPARC Enterprise M8000/M9000 platforms:
     
      The MAC Chip us located on the CMU.
      Domain using the memory bank will be reset.
      The memory associated with this bank of memory is deconfigured.



The recommended service action for this event is to schedule the replacement of the affected FRU.
