Oracle Communications EAGLE (Software) - Version EAGLE 46.5 to EAGLE 46.6 [Release EAGLE 46.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Description

The following two issues may be observed if SLIC card running E1/T1 GPL on EAGLE software release R46.5.0.0.x or R46.6.0.0.0-73.18.0:

Early congestion & link fluctuation:
SLIC card hosting E1/T1 HSL may become unavailable with certain traffic patterns.

T7 Timeout:
Re-configuring existing E1/T1 LSL links (SLK) on SLIC cards may cause the link fail to come up unless the card having issue is booted.

Occurrence

The issue may occur if the following conditions are true:

  • EAGLE running software release of any R46.5.0.0.x or R46.6.0.0.0-73.18.0

Early congestion & link fluctuation:

  • EAGLE having SLIC E1/T1 card hosting HSL link(s)
  • If a constant stream of certain size packets is received by the E1/T1 SLIC, packets received may be marked as erred by the application and discarded.  (The discard packages will not be acknowledged so they should be resent by the originator.) This can have two negative impacts.  It can result in early congestion.  It can cause the link to fail.

T7 Timeout:

  • EAGLE having SLIC E1/T1 card hosting LSL link(s)
  • Re-configuring existing E1/T1 LSL links (SLK) on SLIC cards causes the link fail with T7 timeout until the card is rebooted.

Symptoms

Early congestion & link fluctuation:

The following two UAMs may be observed:

  • 0247 ** SLK XXXX,A REPT-LKF: XER -ISERM threshold exceeded
  • 0215 ** SLK XXXX,B REPT-LKF: ABN - rcvd 2 of 3 invalid FIB

T7 Timeout:

REPT-STAT-SLK:L2STATS=both for the card & link will display T7 timer expired events as shown below:

rept-stat-slk:l2stats=both:loc=<>:link=<>
In Service <YY-MM-DD> <HH:MM:SS.MSEC>
TXC/T7 Expired <YY-MM-DD> <HH:MM:SS.MSEC>
In Service <YY-MM-DD> <HH:MM:SS.MSEC>
TXC/T7 Expired <YY-MM-DD> <HH:MM:SS.MSEC>

Workaround

Early congestion & link fluctuation:
Currently there is no workaround. Upgrade to maintenance release when available.

T7 Timeout:
Reboot the SLIC E1/T1 card when issue occurs to bring up the reconfigured link.

Patches

Permanent fix is currently targeted for R46.5 & R46.6 Maintenance Release.
R46.5 MR is planned for June 2018.
R46.6 MR is planned for mid July 2018.
