Description

SPARC T5-2/T5-4/T5-8 systems without certain firmware versions and Hardware (HW) Programmables listed in the "Occurrence" section below may experience false positive power faults.

Occurrence

This issue can occur on the following platforms:

SPARC Platform

  • SPARC T5-2 without Firmware version 9.6.20.b and HW Programmables 1.0.11 or later
  • SPARC T5-4 without Firmware version 9.6.20.b and HW Programmables 1.0.11 or later
  • SPARC T5-8 without Firmware version 9.6.20.c and HW Programmables 1.0.11 or later
  • Oracle SuperCluster T5-8

To determine the firmware version installed on the system, the following command can be used:

    -> show /HOST sysfw_version

Symptoms

When this issue occurs, a false positive power glitch event resulting in a system outage may be seen.

Workaround

There is no work around for this issue. Please see the Resolution section below.

Resolution

This issue is addressed in the following releases:

  • SPARC T5-2 Firmware version 9.6.20.b (as delivered in patch 27043436) and HW Programmables 1.0.11 (as delivered in patch 25796761) or later
  • SPARC T5-4 Firmware version 9.6.20.b (as delivered in patch 27043438) and HW Programmables 1.0.11 (as delivered in patch 25796761) or later
  • SPARC T5-8 Firmware version 9.6.20.c (as delivered in patch 27408283) and HW Programmables 1.0.11 (as delivered in patch 25796761) or later

This is a two part fix that requires both system firmware and hardware programmables to be effective.

The above firmware versions incorporate significant error handling improvements and other important bug fixes.

A final Resolution is pending completion for Oracle SuperCluster T5-8
