Description

Command TST-IMT causes EPM-B and SLIC cards to reboot when executed on inhibited IMT BUS while any one of HIPR2 card on IMT bus is booting/loading (due to re-seating , replacement, etc) and has not yet completed the boot up process.

Occurrence

This problem may occur if all of the following conditions are true:

EAGLE is running release 46.3 to 46.5
HIPR2 card on an inhibited IMT bus is continuously booting or in a boot up process after a physical re-seat or replacement with spare card.
TST-IMT:TYPE=FAULTTEST:BUS=<> command executed, while a HIPR2 card on the target bus is still on boot up process.

Symptoms

Below are possible symptoms which may appear:

After MASP/network cards reboot following OBITs e5imt_itx.c & pmtc_mgr.c are displayed. Line number may be different for different releases.

Command IMT faulttest is executed within ~2 minutes after replacing the HIPR2 with spare card.
Following are observations based on lab tests made:
- No HIPR2 cards on the EAGLE rebooted
- No EMP-A cards on the EAGLE rebooted
- No cards (SLIC, EPM-B or EPM-A) on the shelf on which the HIPR2 card was reseated rebooted.
- All SLIC & EMP-B cards (including MASP) on all other shelves rebooted
- EMP-B cards came back on the IMT after reboot. But SLIC cards may not come back on the IMT.

Workaround

Avoid running TST-IMT command while HIPR2 cards on the target bus are still booting.
Wait for the HIPR2 card to complete boot up process before running TST-IMT command. This may take up to 2 minutes after replacing/reseating a HIPR2 card.
If the system already hit this issue and if SLIC cards do not come back on IMT, then re-seat the SLIC cards physically.

Patches

Permanent fix for this issue is available in EAGLE Release 46.6. Planning fix for this issue in EAGLE Maintenance Release 46.5.1 as well.
