Oracle Communications EAGLE (Software) - Version EAGLE 46.4 to EAGLE 46.4 [Release EAGLE 46.0]
Tekelec

Description

SLIC cards with 64-bit flash GPL (BLSLC64) running on EAGLE release 46.4 node may experience problems when upgrading to EAGLE release 46.5 due to bug 25832862. Though fix for bug 25832862 is available in EAGLE release 46.5, the R46.4 flash GPL running on card may keep SLIC cards from allowing themselves to be flashed during upgrade phase 3.

Occurrence

Problem is observed when both conditions given below are:

  1. EAGLE node is equipped with SLIC cards running 64-bit flash GPL (BLSLC64). Run REPT-STAT-GPL:GPL=BLSLC64 command to determine this.
  2. Node is getting upgraded from EAGLE release 46.4 to 46.5.

Symptoms

SLIC cards running 64-bit flash GPL (BLSLC64) will not come into service (IS-NR) after flash update attempt on the card during phase3 of upgrade from EAGLE release 46.4 to release 46.5. The cards secondary state will appear as "MEA".

Patches

I)
Verify the EAGLE software release. If EAGLE is running release 46.4.0.0.0, then proceed further.
Run REPT-STAT-GPL:GPL=BLSLC64 to list the SLIC cards running 64-bit GPLs. If no cards are listed or all the cards listed are running BLSLC64 GPL version 139-019-100 , then stop here. Otherwise follow below procedure to update the BLSLC64 GPL on SLIC cards

II)
Procedure for updating the BLSLC64 GPL on SLIC cards

  1. Prepare a release R46.4 removal media drive on EAGLE
  2. Login into MOS and go to "patches and updates" page. Download Patch 26585422 in to a local folder on your PC/laptop
  3. Extract to get blslc64.elf file. Rename the file as "tblslc64.elf"
  4. Copy "tblslc64.elf" file from above step on to EAGLE R46.4 removal media drive prepared in step 1. Make sure this step replaces existing "tblslc64.elf" file on the removal media drive with the "tblslc64.elf" file obtained in step 3.
  5. Insert back the removal media in the removal media drive location on Active MASP and run RTRV-GPL:GPL=BLSLC64 to verify the BLSLC64 GPL version 139-019-100 under the REMOVE TRIAL.
  6. Run CHG-GPL:GPL=BLSLC64:VER=139-019-100 to copy the GPL on to EAGLE OAM disk. Run RTRV-GPL:GPL=BLSLC64 to verify the status. The BLSLC64 GPL version 139-019-100 will appear under the TRIAL column.
  7. Run ACT-GPL:GPL=BLSLC64:VER=139-019-100 to make the BLSLC64 version 139-019-100 as approved version of BLSLC64 GPL. Run RTRV-GPL:GPL=BLSLC64 to verify the status. The BLSLC64 GPL version 139-019-100 will appear under APPROVED column.
  8. Run REPT-STAT-GPL:GPL=BLSLC64 to list the SLIC cards running 64-bit GPLs.
  9. Run following commands to update the flash GPL on SLIC card running BLSLC64 GPL and version is not 139-019-100. Do it one by one for all SLIC cards running BLSLC64 GPL

    REPT-STAT-CARD:MODE=FULL:LOC=<Card location running BLSLC64 GPL>
    INH-CARD:LOC=<>
    INIT-FLASH:CODE=APPR:LOC=<>
    ACT-FLASH:LOC=<>
    ALW-CARD:LOC=<>
REPT-STAT-CARD:MODE=FULL:LOC=< > /// make sure the card is back in service

III)
Before proceeding with upgrade from R46.4 to R46.5, run REPT-STAT-GPL:GPL=BLSLC64 and make sure all the cards listed by the command are running BLSLC64 GPL version 139-019-100
