Applies to:

Oracle Communications EAGLE (Software) - Version EAGLE 46.3 and later
Tekelec

Description

EAGLE R46.3/EPAP 16.1 onwards, EPAP ports on EAGLE Service Module(SM) cards should be set to AUTO to support 1Gbps EPAP-to-Eagle RTDB download speed.
Corresponding ports on EPAP LAN switches should be configured accordingly to achieve required operational speed and duplex of 1Gbps and Full Duplex. Refer to the EPAP Installation Guide for more information.
If ports are not running at 1 Gbps/full duplex, slow card recovery of SM cards may be observed during RTDB reload events on the card.

Occurrence

During cold reboot of SM cards with EPAP feature enabled that have non-recommended Ethernet port configuration.

Symptoms

Slow card recovery during RTDB reload of SM cards may be observed if the EPAP switch/EAGLE SM card Ethernet port settings are not configured correctly to achieve 1 Gbps/full duplex download speed.

Patches

Follow below steps to configure EAGLE SM Cards and EPAP Switch Ports:

  • chg-ip-lnk:loc=<>:port=<>:auto=yes command can be used to set EPAP MPS ports on EAGLE SM cards to AUTO.
  • Corresponding ports on EPAP LAN switches should be configured accordingly to achieve required operational speed and duplex of 1Gbps and Full Duplex. Refer to APPENDIX B (PROCEDURE TO CONFIGURE EPAP SWITCH PORTS AND EAGLE SM CARDS TO SUPPORT 1G EPAP-TO-EAGLE RTDB DOWNLOAD SPEED) of EPAP Installation Guide for more details (E60146 for release 16.1)
Note: Once the SM (SMxG/SLIC) card is in service, pass command pass:cmd="netstat -i":loc=<:SM card loc> can be used to verify the operational speed and duplex of EPAP ports on SM cards.

Note: In order to support 1Gbps EPAP-TO-EAGLE RTDB download speed, SM cards should be connected to EPAP with CAT5 straight-through cables P/N 830-0724-xx or 830-1174-xx as mentioned in EAGLE Installation Guide.
