Description

SPARC T5-1B, SPARC T5-2, SPARC T5-4, SPARC T5-8, SPARC T7-1, SPARC T7-2, SPARC T7-4, SPARC S7-2, SPARC S7-2L, Netra SPARC S7-2, Netra SPARC T4-1 systems with HUC101860CSS200 (600.0GB) and/or HUC101812CSS200 (1.2TB) disks with firmware A770 may experience failures during resilvering or other disk operations, potentially resulting in loss of files and/or data.

Occurrence

This issue can occur on the following platforms:

SPARC Platform

  • SPARC T5-1B, T5-2, T5-4, and T5-8 with HUC101860CSS200 (600.0GB) disks running firmware A770 or earlier
  • SPARC T7-1, T7-2,T7-2, and T7-4 with HUC101860CSS200 (600.0GB) and/or HUC101812CSS200 (1.2TB) disks running firmware A770 or earlier
  • SPARC S7-2 and S7-2L with HUC101860CSS200 (600.0GB) and/or HUC101812CSS200 (1.2TB) disks running firmware A770 or earlier
  • Netra SPARC S7-2 with HUC101860CSS200 (600.0GB) and/or HUC101812CSS200 (1.2TB) disks running firmware A770 or earlier
  • Netra SPARC T4-1 with HUC101812CSS200 (1.2TB) disks running firmware A770 or earlier

To determine the current disk firmware versions on one of these servers, the following Solaris command can be used:

      # fwupdate list disk

Symptoms

If this issue occurs, a disk or multiple disks may fail during resilvering, potentially resulting in lost files or data.

Workaround

There is no workaround for this issue. Please see the Resolution section below.

Resolution

This issue is addressed in the following release:

SPARC Platform

  • Firmware A990 for 1.2TB, 600GB DRIVE (patch 25926919) which can be found at

          https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/ui/patch/PatchDetail.jspx?parent=DOCUMENT&sourceId=1957783.1&patchId=25926919

Customers are advised to upgrade disk firmware from A770 to A990 at the earliest opportunity to prevent this issue from occurring.
