Solution Type Sun Alert Sure Solution 2268719.1 : Important Note About Spare HIPR2 Flash Procedure (Flashing HIPR2 GPL to EAGLE Release 46.4 or Higher from Release 46.3 or Prior)
In this Document
Applies to:Oracle Communications EAGLE (Software) - Version EAGLE 46.4 to EAGLE 46.4 [Release EAGLE 46.0]Tekelec DescriptionEAGLE release 46.4 onward supports only 2.5Gbps speed for HIPR2 cards and it will not negotiate speed with the HIPR2 cards that are running 46.3 or earlier release GPL. A mix of HIPR2 cards running EAGLE release 46.3 (or earlier) GPL and release 46.4 (or later) GPL will prevent the IMT bus from coming into service. Hence, a special procedure needs to be followed, when upgrading any spare HIPR2 cards from EAGLE releases 46.3 or prior to 46.4 and higher. This special spare HIPR2 card upgrade procedure requires both the IMT buses to be in service. So it is important to keep all the spare HIPR2 cards updated with the correct GPL during upgrade session 2.
OccurrenceThis can occur when all of the following conditions are true:
SymptomsSpare HIPR2 card running EAGLE release 46.3 or earlier GPL cannot be brought into service on EAGLE running release 46.4, unless the special procedure documented in the Documentation Bulletin E87534-01, "Upgrading Spare HIPR2 Cards" is performed. PatchesFor EAGLE running release 46.4, this special procedure is published in Documentation Bulletin E87534-01, "Upgrading Spare HIPR2 Cards", under R46.4 customer documentation set (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E79793_01/index.htm#docbulletins).
