Applies to:Oracle Exadata Storage Server SoftwareExadata Database Machine V2 Exadata Database Machine X2-2 Hardware Exadata Database Machine X2-8 Linux x86-64 DescriptionExadata Storage Servers in V2 and X2 systems with 600GB high performance disk drives must run version 11.2.2.4.1 (released December 2011) or higher in order to continue to receive replacement disk drives. 600GB drive assembly with part number 542-0166 has reached end-of-life and will no longer be available once current stock is depleted, which is expected before end of calendar year 2016. The substitute 600GB drive assembly is part number 542-0428. 600GB drive assembly with part number 542-0428 is supported with Exadata version 11.2.2.4.1 and higher only. A storage server running 11.2.2.4.0 or lower will reject 600GB drive assembly with part number 542-0428 as an unrecognized disk drive. OccurrenceThe following conditions must exist for this issue to occur:
This issue does not affect X3 storage servers with 600GB disk drives. X3 minimum supported version is 11.2.3.2.0. SymptomsExadata Storage Servers in V2 and X2 systems running version 11.2.2.4.0 or lower risk having a replacement 600GB disk drive with part number 542-0428 rejected because the old software does not support it. PatchesUpdate storage servers to version 11.2.2.4.1 or higher. The recommended version is the latest documented in <Document 888828.1>, which is 12.1.2.3.3 at the time of publication of this alert.
