Description

GT routed SCCP Class1 traffic in the system (EAGLE running Release 46.0.2.0.0 or 46.2.0.0.0) generates gratuitous broadcast packets on IMT bus (BUG 21896172) which may consume some additional system resources. This may reduce the usable IMT bus throughput and/or consume additional CPU cycles on system cards. This alert is not applicable to EAGLE releases 46.0.0.0.0, 46.0.1.0.0 and 46.1.0.0.0.

Occurrence

This can occur when following conditions are true
1) EAGLE running Release 46.0.2.0.0 or 46.2.0.0.0
2) EAGLE is GT routing SCCP class1 traffic (rept-stat-sccp:mode=perf command can be executed to verify this).
3) Class1seq under SCCPOPTS is turned ON (rtrv-sccpopts command can be executed to verify this).

Symptoms

Any one of the following symptoms will be observed if the system is hitting BUG 21896172.

1) following severity 1 troubles from network cards

2) Flash-card/init-flash command completion failure (CARD FLASH OPERATION FAILURE) on system cards.

Workaround

Halt all scheduled EAGLE upgrade to releases 46.0.2.0.0 and 46.2.0.0.0. New maintenance releases with fix for BUG 21896172 will be provided for the affected releases.
If the EAGLE is currently running release 46.0.2.0.0 or 46.2.0.0.0, it must be upgraded to a release with fix for BUG 21896172, as soon as available. Please contact Oracle customer support team for more details.
