Description

In certain rare cases, M10-4 systems with 3.4GHz CPUs or M10-4S systems with 3.7GHz CPUs with XCP revisions prior to 2240 on the eXtended System Control Facility (XSCFU) may unexpectedly reboot and degrade CPUs with a "CPU internal serious" error.

Occurrence

This issue can occur on the following platforms:

  • M10-4 with 3.4GHz CPU with XCP revisions prior to 2240 (on the XSCFU)
  • M10-4S with 3.7GHz CPU with XCP revisions prior to 2240 (on the XSCFU)

Note: No other systems or platforms are affected by this issue.

To determine the XCP version on the system, the following command can be used:

      XSCF> version -c xcp
      BB#00-XSCF#0 (Master)
      XCP0 (Reserve): 2240
      XCP1 (Current): 2240

To determine the CPU speed, use the following command on the XSCFU:

      XSCF> showhardconf

      CMUU Status:Degraded; Ver:0401h; Serial:PP????????  ;
            + FRU-Part-Number:CA07361-D281 B3   /7088708   ;

                + Freq:3.400 GHz; Type:0x20;

Symptoms

After an initial power on or an unexpected reboot, the showlogs error output will have the following error recorded:
