Description

After upgrading to Sun System Firmware release 9.3.0.c, SPARC M5-32 and M6-32 systems may report multiple faulty CPU/Memory Units (CMUs) when starting physical domains.

Occurrence

This issue can occur on the following systems:

  • SPARC M5-32 Servers with Firmware version 9.3.0.c (as delivered in patch 20034532)
  • SPARC M6-32 Servers with Firmware version 9.3.0.c (as delivered in patch 20034532)

Note: No other platforms are affected by this issue.

To determine the current firmware version on one of these servers, do the following:

   -> show -d properties /System/Firmware
    /System/Firmware
      Properties:
        system_fw_version = Sun System Firmware 9.3.0.c

Symptoms

If the described issue occurs, powering on a HOST may be completed, but CMU faults are reported with FMA diagnosis code SPT-8000-DH, similar to the following:

From ILOM command line:

    -> start /SP/faultmgmt/shell
    Are you sure you want to start /SP/faultmgmt/shell (y/n)? y

    faultmgmtsp> fmadm faulty
