Solution Type Sun Alert Sure Solution 1957226.1 : Oracle Communications Diameter Signaling Router SAVELOGS.PLAT Executed On Servers Can Trigger ComAgent Failures In Server Operation.
In this Document
Applies to:Oracle Communications Diameter Signaling Router (DSR) - Version DSR 4.0 to DSR 5.0 [Release DSR 4.0 to DSR 5.0]Tekelec DescriptionOracle has suspended the use of SAVELOGS.PLAT command and warns customers to STOP using this command on any systems earlier than DSR 5.0. This command has been used to collect data from servers for fault analysis. Recently, it has been observed that when the command is executed on a server, SAVELOGS.PLAT introduces heavy Disk I/O utilization that results in ComAgent timeouts and congestion for 3 seconds. The use of SAVELOGS.PLAT can safely be used in the following systems: SDS, PMAC, TVOE where COMAGENT is not impacted. SAVELOGS.PLAT can be used without limitations in any DSR systems with software releases DSR 5.1 or greater. OccurrenceIt has been observed that during execution of SAVELOGS.PLAT command servers within the Oracle Communications DSR platform, it triggers Server ComAgent failure and congestion for 3 seconds. During this timeframe, the server will fail to normally operate and may result in loss of traffic. The likelihood of this occurrence is HIGH once the command is executed. Do not execute SAVELOGS.PLAT command on any server within the Oracle Communications DSR that are running DSR 4.x or 5.0 software. Note: The use of SAVELOGS.PLAT can safely be used in the following systems: SDS, PMAC, TVOE where COMAGENT is not impacted. SymptomsThe following alarm events are produced 19825, 19803, 19807, 19808 when the ComAgent failure is observed. WorkaroundOracle has developed a new data collection script (CollectOutageMeasandEvents_Bscoped.sh) to replace SAVELOGS.PLAT. The new tool can be obtained by contacting the Oracle DSR Technical Support team. HistoryInitial Release 26-DEC-2014 Attachments This solution has no attachment |
