Description

A slow memory leak happens with each login/logout (by a system administrator) on the Sun Blade 6000 24-Port 10-Gigabit Ethernet Switched Network Express Module (NEM) (2073A-N) and Sun Network 10GE Switch 72p (2074A-F). Over time this will result in a switch application crash.

Occurrence

This issue can occur on the following platforms:

  • Sun Blade 6000 24-Port 10-Gigabit Ethernet Switched Network Express Module (NEM)(2073A-N) with firmware versions 1.2.2.1 or earlier
  • Sun Network 10GE Switch 72p (2074A-F) with firmware versions 1.2.2.1/1.2.2.3 or earlier

Notes:

      1. No other platform is affected by this issue.
      2. This issue only occurs on systems that are not configured for High-Availability (HA)

To determine the current firmware, do the following from the ILOM prompt:

      -> version
      SP firmware 3.0.5.2
      SP firmware build number: 72156
SP firmware build date: Mon Sep  2 10:00:21 PDT 2013
SP firmware install date:  Tue Sep  3 06:58:38 GMT 2013
      SP filesystem version: 1.2.2.3

If the SP filesystem version shows 1.2.2.3 or lower for Sun Network 10GE Switch 72p, it is recommended to upgrade to the latest release (see Resolution section below).

If the SP filesystem version shows 1.2.2.1 or lower for Sun Blade 6000 24-Port 10-Gigabit Ethernet Switched NEM, it is recommended to upgrade to the latest release (see Resolution section below).

Symptoms

Should the described issue occur, the switch will reboot causing periodic network outages.

Workaround

There is no workaround for this issue.

This issue is addressed in the following releases:

  • Sun Network 10GE Switch 72p Firmware 1.2.2.5 (as delivered in patch 13255111) or later
  • Sun Blade 6000 24-Port 10-Gigabit Ethernet Switched NEM Firmware 1.2.2.5 (as delivered in patch id 13255101) or later
Note: It is STRONGLY recommended to upgrade to Firmware version 1.2.2.5 (or later) at the earliest opportunity.
