Impact Brocade SilkWorm products may panic if Fabric Watch email alarms are configured incorrectly. As a result, a temporary loss of connectivity to SAN devices may occur. 2. Contributing Factors This issue can occur in the following release:
for the following Brocade platforms:
with Fabric Watch e-mail alerts incorrectly configured. Note: This issue will only occur if e-mail alarms are configured on the switch. 3. Symptoms If the following command is run on the switch: admin> fwAlarmsFilterShow and returns the following line: FW: Alarms are enabled the switch may experience a panic and reboot should an alarm be triggered with Fabric Watch email alerts incorrectly configured. Running the commands "errdump" or "errshow" from the switch console after the switch reboots will show one or more occurences of the following line: cannot allocate memory as well as at least one occurence of the following message: Prepare to reboot/failover in a moment... 4. Workaround To work around the described issue, make sure that the Fabric Watch alert email address is set up correctly and disable email alerts on any Fabric Watch class that is generating a lot of INFO messages in the specific environment. For example, to disable TX performance (from the command line interface), run fwconfigure -> portclass (3) -> TX performance (8) -> Advanced config (4) -> options 12, 13, 14 and 15 should be set to 0 if you are not interested in any kind of alarms or 1 for information to go to the RASLOG. For customers who do not use the Fabric Watch send mail alert feature at all, disable all alerts by issuing "fwalarmsfilterset 0" from the command line interface. 5. Resolution This issue is addressed in the following release:
for the following Brocade platforms:
