Symptoms

FMD-8000-CV alerts (fru-monitor.fru-remove) appear upon first HOST start following SysFW 9.8.5 installation.

Check the SysFW version installed,

% prtdiag -v | egrep "Sun System Firmware"
Sun System Firmware 9.8.5.a 2018/03/29 18:19

Solaris FMA will show alert FMD-8000-CV for a removed component similar to the following,

# fmadm list-alert

Changes

The fix for the issue documented in Doc ID 2391817.1 creates the informational alert.  These are alerts and not fault diagnosis.  FMA alert messages can easily be listed with the command 'fmadm list-alert' to differentiate them from faults ('fmadm list-fault').

The removed locations should include these,

FMA Reported FRU                         Corrected FRU Location
/SYS/CMIOUn/IOH/IOS3/RP0      /SYS/CMIOUn/PCIE1
/SYS/CMIOUn/IOH/IOS0/RP0      /SYS/CMIOUn/PCIE2
/SYS/CMIOUn/IOH/IOS1/RP0      /SYS/CMIOUn/PCIE3

Cause

This is a side effect of the fix for bug 27083597 "FMA topology incorrect, calls out IOS RP as a FRU".

Solution

Clear the alert notification.  It is informational only and a side affect of the fix for the issue documented in Doc ID 2391817.1

The alert can easily be cleared as follows,

# fmadm clear uuid

e.g.,
# fmadm clear f949de20-e85b-47ef-bcb6-cee137ba70d4
