Symptoms

FMA generated one of these error message:

SPX86A-8004-E6 A PCI link error has been detected on a PCI card.

or

SPAX86A-8004-FN A PCI link error has been detected on a PCI card.

Changes

Cause

SPX86A-8004-E6  or  SPAX86A-8004-FN  indicates that a PCI link error has been detected on a PCI card.

Indicates that the ILOM fault manager has applied a diagnosis to error reports.

Solution

Recommended action for the customer:

  1.  Visually inspect the PCIe connector for debris, contamination, or damage.
  2.  Re-seat the PCI card ensuring it is properly seated and secure into the PCI connector.
  3.  Please ensure the latest system firmware is installed on the system.

Please see Doc ID 1174698.1 (Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance: How to check the SP BIOS revision level)

Also, Doc ID 2285244.1 (Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance: Automatic upgrade of ZFSSA ILOM/BIOS Firmware in OS 8.7)

If, after implementing the above solution, the issue remains - and you feel that further technical investigation by a support analyst is required - please attach a support bundle, and update the SR with: "Further Investigation Required"

Please follow Doc ID 1019887.1 (Sun Storage 7000 Unified Storage System: How to Collect a Support Bundle using the BUI or CLI) and attach the created support bundle to this SR.

If the latest Appliance Release Firmware is already installed, please engage Oracle Support, by updating your existing Service Request, so that Oracle Support Services can provide confirmation of this issue and then carry out the appropriate activities to resolve the issue.

If no further assistance is needed and the SR is not updated, the SR will automatically close in 14 days.
