Applies to:

Oracle Communications Diameter Signaling Router (DSR) - Version DSR 7.0.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Comcol process cmsnmpsa found consuming excessive memory for SOAM servers. System also found reporting the alrm 31215 "Process resources exceeded".

[xxxxxxxx@SO-xxx-a snmp]$ ps axo %mem,pid,cmd,ruser | sort -nr | head -10
55.6 1197 cmsnmpsa -R x.x.x.x.x root

The alarm 31215 also appears, the severity keeps increasing from minor to critical  (due to more memory consumed by comcol process) if not attended for few hours.

This issue keeps appearing quite often in active SOAM server.

Changes

No changes done in system configuration

Cause

Memory leak was observed when there are alarms present and SNMP walk is done on the COMCOL.

Bug 27699787

Comcol table "comcolAlarmTable".

Solution

The comcol bug is going to be fixed in comcol versoin 7.5. System should be reach that comcol version to clear of this issue.
The available work around is to restart the cmsnmpsa process, it will release the memory and clear the alarm 31215.
