Symptoms

In an attempt to acquire-config (obtain the configuration from another SBC in HA), the procedure fails, only acquiring a partial configuration.

Changes

Cause

There were 2 causes (though there could be others), noted: 1) Target name did not match name in redundancy-config 2) No HA license on one box

In the case of target name not matching the names in redundancy-config, the following error can be seen in log lemd:

Solution

In this Document

Make sure that the target name in bootparams matches what is in the name of peer under redundancy-config
Make sure each box has HA license

Other configuration that may need to be checked includes matching admin passwords on each box and remote-control is enabled in system-config. (note that while not necessarily preventing acquire config to work, that matching hardware (chassis, NIU, etc) is required for HA to be supported.
