Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 2384693.1 : Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance: Enterprise Manager Cloud Control OSS7 Plugin 12.1.0.6.0 and 12.1.0.7.0 Hot Patch - for OS 8.7.4 or later Micro Release
Applies to:Oracle ZFS Storage ZS4-4 - Version All Versions and laterOracle ZFS Storage ZS5-4 - Version All Versions and later Oracle ZFS Storage ZS3-4 - Version All Versions and later Sun ZFS Storage 7420 - Version All Versions and later Exalogic Elastic Cloud X4-2 Eighth Rack - Version X4 to X4 [Release X4] 7000 Appliance OS (Fishworks) SymptomsInability to monitor ZFS Storage Appliances in Enterprises Manager Cloud Control 12c with Plugin version 12.1.0.7.0 or earlier. With OS 8.7.10 or later the oracle_zfs_plugin log shows the following message -- Apr 10, 2018 8:44:19 PM com.sun.s7000.client.PrecheckRestAvailable checkVersion
ChangesOccurs when ZFS Storage Appliance is upgraded to OS 8.7.4 or later.
CauseThere is a change in the way XML-RPC Workflows are authenticated, which is causing all the Enterprise Manager Plugins from version 12.1.0.7.0 and before to fail to show the status of the ZFS Storage Appliance. Additionally the plugins are not able to parse the AK firmware version strings starting with 8.7.10 and later when pre-checking the availability of the REST service on the appliance.
SolutionThe latest versions of plugin do not use XML-RPC workflows and use REST-API calls instead. They also can correctly parse AK firmware version strings. The ultimate solution is to Upgrade Oracle Manager Cloud Control and the Plugin to latest versions. Latest Enterprise Manager (EM) version : 13c Release 2. As a workaround till the upgrade to latest versions cannot be done, please follow the instructions below. Notes: 1) If you are using EM 12c with Plugin 12.1.0.5.0 we recommend to upgrade to 12.1.0.6.0 only [do not upgrade to 12.1.0.7.0] and then apply the patch fix as mentioned below.
Steps to be followed for Plugin version 12.1.0.6.0 or 12.1.0.7.0 - 1) Choose and download the Oracle_Grid.jar from this MOS Note which corresponds to the version of the ZFS Storage Appliance Enterprise Manager Plugin installed on your system 12.1.0.6.0 / 12.1.0.7.0. 2) Locate the Oracle_Grid.jar in your agent(s). 3) Stop the agent(s). 4) Backup your Oracle_Grid.jar as Oracle.Grid.jar.bak 5) Replace / Swap the Oracle_Grid.jar, in ALL your agents (that monitor the ZFS-SA), with the one provided in this MOS Note. Reminder, you need to swap the jar file in all the agents. 6) Start the agent(s). Now you should be able to see the status of and monitor the ZFS Storage Appliance Targets the same way as earlier.
1) If you have been using Health Check Metric Extension or plan to, it will not work along with this patch jar. To use Health Check Metric Extension please upgrade Enterprise Manager and Plugin to the latest versions.
2) This patch will not fix the Provisioning failures, which have been occurring since before this patch is applied. To use Provisioning please upgrade Enterprise Manager and Plugin to the latest versions.
3) After the jar replacement, the Enterprise Manager Plugins Target's home page might display blank or home page charts might generate errors about metaVersion 12.2X, in that case, you will need to restart the OMS. Follow the steps below -
