Applies to:

Oracle Communications EAGLE (Software) - Version EAGLE 45.0 to EAGLE 46.3 [Release EAGLE 45.0 to EAGLE 46.0]
Tekelec

Symptoms

  • Manually disabled the association on Eagle using below command
    chg-assoc:aname=<>:open=no
  • On Eagle the status of association is OOS-MT-DSBLD but on far end the association remains open.
  • From the wireshark capture, below is the sample SACK Chunk. It shows that the Chunk length is 24 bytes.
  • However the raw data for this SACK chunk showed 16bytes.

   SACK chunk (Cumulative TSN: 2025663772, a_rwnd: 204800, gaps: 0, duplicate TSNs: 0)

   Chunk type: SACK (3) ------------------------------------------->1 byte

   Chunk flags: 0x00 ---------------------------------------------->1 byte

   Chunk length: 24 ----------------------------------------------->2 bytes

   Cumulative TSN ACK: 2025663772 --------------------------------->4 bytes

   Advertised receiver window credit (a_rwnd): 204800 ------------->4 bytes

   Number of gap acknowledgement blocks: 0 ------------------------>2 bytes

   Number of duplicated TSNs: 0 ----------------------------------->2 bytes

Changes

Cause

  • As per the wireshark trace SACK chunk length should be 16 bytes but it shows 24 bytes.
  • The additional 8 bytes are of SHUTDOWN chunk which is bundled in the same message.
  • Since the Chunk Length parameter is sent incorrectly by Eagle, the peer end may not be able to correctly identify the presence of SHUTDOWN chunk in the bundled message, and does not close the association.
  • Bug 20802492 was opened on Eagle.

Solution

Upgrade to Eagle 46.3 or higher release which has the fix to Bug 20802492
