SSD = Service Safety Door

Have done a lot of IPLs and sometimes the safety door is doing initial move to left and right even when Bots are not safe outside. Have closed the Safety Door to the left and a robot came to check the CAP and hit the "closed" Safety door. Its like the HBCR does not know the Safety door status. (all switches and cables are measured and ok).

Symptoms

Safety Door hits Handbots on the Left Side.

Move to the right never causes collisions or other problems.

Cause

The door guide plate on the floor is on backwards.

Solution

The "StorageTek SL8500 Installation Manual for Bulk CAP Libraries" shows how to install the service safety door on page 172 but it does not mention installing the guide plate anywhere in the manual.

Make sure the slot is oriented as show in this picture below.  If it is backwards, the door might strike a bot that had moved back, out of the way of the door.
