Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 2379285.1 : Diameter Signaling Router (DSR): Tekelec Virtual Operating Environment (TVOE) Server syscheck fails with "LVM snapshot is invalid" in class "upgrade"
In this Document
Created from <SR 3-17136492171> Applies to:Oracle Communications Diameter Signaling Router (DSR) - Version DSR 5.0 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform. SymptomsExecuting "syscheck" on a server running Tekelec Virtual Operating Environment (TVOE) produces errors in class upgrade similar to the following: [admusr@TVOEserver ~]$ sudo syscheck
<snipping out other modules/classes from output...> Running modules in class upgrade... * snapshots: FAILURE:: MINOR::5000001000000000 -- LVM snapshot space usage warning * snapshots: FAILURE:: Snapshot plat_var_snap usage: 85.82% (warning threshold is 80%) * snapshots: FAILURE:: MAJOR::3000200000000000 -- LVM snapshot is invalid * snapshots: FAILURE:: Snapshot plat_var_tklc_snap usage: 100.00% (invalid) * snapshots: FAILURE:: There are 1 invalid snapshot(s) on server. * snapshots: FAILURE:: Backout in no longer possible. One or more module in class "upgrade" FAILED Additionally checking alarm manager as shown on the TVOE host will produce the following alarm (among others): [admusr@TVOEserver ~]$ alarmMgr --alarmStatus
SEQ: 1 UPTIME: 52 BIRTH: 1342633142 TYPE: SET ALARM:TKSPLATMI33|tpdServerUpgradePendingAccept|1.3.6.1.4.1.323.5.3.18.3.1.3.33 ChangesThe server has been upgraded in the past, not necessarily the recent past. CauseThe TVOE server software was upgraded but never had the 'Accept Upgrade' activity conducted. This can be missed since most 'Accept Upgrade' activity within DSR is performed via Network Operations Administration and Maintenance (NOAM) browser Graphical User Interface (GUI) but for TVOE platforms this must be done at the Platform Maintenance & Configuration (PM&C) server. As the TVOE does not alarm directly in the DSR application, this condition can be overlooked. Solution
Once the Accept Upgrade task completes, the failure should no longer be produced when executing syscheck. Note: If the error condition indicating "LVM snapshot is invalid" is present, upgrade Reject or backout is no longer possible.
