Symptoms

Executing "syscheck" on a server running Tekelec Virtual Operating Environment (TVOE) produces errors in class upgrade similar to the following:

Additionally checking alarm manager as shown on the TVOE host will produce the following alarm (among others):

Changes

The server has been upgraded in the past, not necessarily the recent past.

Cause

The TVOE server software was upgraded but never had the 'Accept Upgrade' activity conducted. This can be missed since most 'Accept Upgrade' activity within DSR is performed via Network Operations Administration and Maintenance (NOAM) browser Graphical User Interface (GUI) but for TVOE platforms this must be done at the Platform Maintenance & Configuration (PM&C) server. As the TVOE does not alarm directly in the DSR application, this condition can be overlooked.

Solution

Access the PM&C server via its GUI as an admin-level user.
Navigate to the Main Menu / Software / Software Inventory screen.
Identify the row(s) for TVOE servers, and determine if any column toward the right has a message for "Pending Upgrade Acc/Rej."
Select (highlight) each TVOE row showing the message and select "Accept Upgrade" button at the bottom of the screen.

Once the Accept Upgrade task completes, the failure should no longer be produced when executing syscheck.

Note: If the error condition indicating "LVM snapshot is invalid" is present, upgrade Reject or backout is no longer possible.
